Signs of Your miracles!

See the garden, green and lush, that freshly blooms;

Observe the red-bricked house and all its rooms;

Note the far off planet, strange, with rings and several moons;

Look! Happy, excited, giggly children, watching cartoons.

Aye, undoubtedly, these are the fine signs of some of Your miracles!

******

Ah, heed the ocean, with its waves, eddies and tides;

The sprightly, little donkey and its fun-filled rides;

Smell the bakery goodies – its cakes, doughnuts and pies;

Listen to the chatter and natter of proud grooms ‘n’ blushing brides.

Aye, undoubtedly, these are the fine signs of some of Your miracles!

******

Watch the bonny, bouncy, bubbly babes;

Catch those magical, wonderful, dainty snowflakes;

Oh! And, careful of gorillas, baboons, chimps and apes;

Sea creatures of odd sizes – Wow! A kaleidoscope of colours ‘n’ shapes.

Aye, undoubtedly, these are the fine signs of some of Your miracles!

******

Embrace the loving protection of your dad – be enormously grateful;

Hug the caring devotion of your mum – be tremendously thankful;

Huddle up with the love and affection of sibling unity – be joyful;

For, yes, indeed, ’tis family that really matters – utterly delightful!

Aye, undoubtedly, these are the fine signs of some of Your miracles!

So…

Much obliged, we truly are, dear Lord, for all these rich Blessings,

You are Merciful, Gracious, Omnipotent, Forgiving and Kind;

Appreciative we are, for the life You have granted – with its endless lessons;

Prithee now, most earnestly, we humbly pray, to be good, content, compassionate and kind.

Amen.

YOU are a different flower from the same garden

Beauty is all around us. It envelops our very being. Feel the love in your heart. And, smile.

Yes, be happy with yourself. Endeavour to be the best YOU that you can possibly be. Hold your head up high. You are beautiful. In fact, YOU are beauty.

Always be confident. And know that YOU are a child of the Universe. You have a right to be here. The qualities you have are yours, uniquely yours. The talent you possess is yours, only yours. Take pride in them.

Walk tall. Be humble, for He has created you different from the rest. You are the pretty flower put on Earth to bloom and shine. Your traits are solely – and soully (pun intended) –  yours. Yes, yours alone. You are the original, not a duplicate. Feel the splendour of your whole being. Breathe. Embrace this knowledge. Reflect.

Yes, you are competent. Capable in ways you never imagined. You have the power. Just have Faith, and know that He has blessed you. Blessed YOU to be a good human being. Endowed you He has, with solutions to all your problems. Just be patient. Trust in His timing. As, without a doubt, His timing is perfect.

Be at peace with yourself. You are one of a kind. There is beauty inside you. That inner light radiates a pure brightness on everyone you meet. Goodness attracts goodness. Be gentle, kind and compassionate. This is how He wishes each one of us to be. The soul soars with delight…the heart sings. His Gifts are precious. Receive. Accept. And, be grateful.

Indeed, YOU are a treasure, more valuable than any gem that exists. Be proud of yourself. The Lord loves you best. Yes, you are like a pretty flower. Fragrance surrounds you. YOU are beauty…oh yes, you are!

I’m a flower-happy kinda gal!

From childhood I have loved flowers. I remember visiting parks, botanical gardens, florists and just taking in all the splendid sights and fragrances. What joy!

You might just say that I’m a flower-happy kinda gal!

Indeed, I’m one among the many who adore them. No matter how blue one’s feeling, simply look at flowers and your whole world turns pink and rosy.

So it is no wonder we give flowers to those who are sick. A hospital room appears more cheerful with floral arrangements placed by a window or on a shelf.

Of course, new mommies and babes are embraced with flowers galore.

Ailing children are given a warm hug with pretty blooms.

Beautiful bouquets are graciously presented to friends as they settle in their new home , adding much to their happiness.

On her big day, a bride clutches a bunch of flowers, enhancing the beauty of her bridal gown. An Eastern bride entwines fragrant flowers in her hair, and sits atop a tastefully decorated stage , displaying exquisite blooms.

Birthdays are yet another occasion for flowers. Roses are popular. Just one or a whole bunch of them are, equally, heartily accepted. After all, it’s the thought that counts!

Say it with flowers. Brighten up mum’s day. Thank a sibling for always being there. Appreciate a colleague. Value a neighbour, a friend, a spouse. Certainly, the language of flowers is understood by all. N’est-ce pas?

Take a peek at some of my favourite quotes on flowers…

“The earth laughs in flowers.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“The violets in the mountains have broken the rocks.”

~ Tennessee Williams, Camino Real

“I must have flowers, always, and always.”

~ Claude Monet

Yes, my thoughts exactly!

I am your blessing, said the petal to the flower

I am your blessing, said the petal to the flower

Down in the countryside, deep in the garden

Is a bed of buds just waiting to blossom.

Whispering sounds of gentle breeze rustle all around,

The verdant grass, a welcome sight, its dewdrops glisten bright.

Radiantly, the sun now shines; the rains have played their part

But buds remain buds, unopened…just nodding up and down.

When suddenly, magically, abracadabra, appears a pretty petal,

One by one, the petals emerge, splashing colours ‘pon the green.

‘We are yours – your heavenly blessings,’ cry out the petals, loud and clear

Then, with grace and quiet dignity, all unite to form the flower.

Of children, fairies and a sprinkle of magical dust

Standard
For many years now I have been writing stories for children. I cherish the fact that I see everything around me with ‘child-like’ wonder…as if I’m looking at something for the very first time; when, in actual fact, the objects and events are hovering around me all the time. What an incredible feeling!

Here, I’d like to share with you one of my favourite short stories. It’s about a fairy called Aranda. Also, Fairy Be Happy. Ah, yes, and the story wouldn’t be complete without the little elf. And the toadstool…and a sprinkle of magic dust.

Fairy – "Take the Fair Face of Woman"...

ARANDA THE FAIRY

‘Boo hoo! What am I going to do?’ the pretty little fairy sobbed as she wiped away a tiny tear from her wispy lashes.

The distraught Fairy Aranda was standing in front of Fairy Be Happy, the old fairy who looked after all the fairies in the land. She was now quite concerned about her.

‘Aranda, my love, you will have to create a flower for yourself. The other fairies have worked hard and produced beautiful bouquets of exquisite blooms. You must do the same,’ said Fairy Be Happy, tenderly.

‘But that’s just it! They’ve taken all the flowers and now there’s nothing left for me. It’s not fair!’ she cried, tightly clutching her magic wand in annoyance.

Grumbling, she rattled on about how Fairy Cerise had painted flowers red and called them ‘Roses.’ And how Fairy Tawny had created the yellow ‘Buttercups’ and ‘Daffodils.’ She spoke about Fairy Aquamarine and her ‘Bluebells’ and ‘Forget-me-nots.’ The list was endless, as were her complaints.

‘Aranda dearest,’ said Fairy Be Happy, finally, ‘You must go out and search for that elusive flower. Look about you. Be creative – a new flower, a plant, which will only be yours, so let your imagination fly!’ and she hugged the little fairy to coax her on her way.

Although a wee bit upset, Aranda bade goodbye and immediately set to work. She leapfrogged over tufts of grass and hopped over tiny pebbles to get to the woods. She was determined to succeed in her quest.
