Enchanted fields of dreams

Gosh! I very nearly missed the train.

With minutes to spare, I quickly sit back in the seat, quite breathless.

That hectic meeting with business associates went on till eternity!

Phew. I now relax.

Breathe.

I smile, and look out the window.

The swaying motion of the train plays a gentle lullaby.

I feel my lashes softly rest upon my cheeks.

My mind quiet, my thoughts silenced.

I drift away…

The train ride takes me through enchanted fields of dreams.

Fairies abound and…

Quaint little magical castles in which elves dwell.

Gnomes go helter-skelter beneath ivy creepers.

Pixies up to no good, grin from ear to ear.

Trolls, grumpy, stomp up and down wooden picket fences.

Unicorns, majestic, gallop with other steeds.

Witches pick roots and insects for cauldrons.

Hobbits emerge from dainty grassy dwellings.

Fields of fifty shades of green, stretch as far as the eyes can see.

Then, trees. Trees, and more trees.

One tree suddenly appears near the window.

A leafless one. Branches, draped in brown. Naked.

But on looking closely, I observe tiny green buds, polka dotted here and there.

Each bud, waiting, rather impatiently, to dramatically burst forth into life and bring with it, a rich harvest of hopes and dreams for a fruitful tomorrow.

And, the moment one small bud opens, my eyes too, open at the announcement of my destination.

As I step out onto the platform, I breathe. Deeply.

And, I smile. It’s a new day…for a promising tomorrow; a verdant future.

Just as the enchanted fields of dreams foretold.
